Arada

One of two labels produced by the JK Wine Company, ARADA is the Spanish word which translates “to plow.”  An arada was used by the padres to cultivate the ground prior to planting grapes at the missions.  It is the inspiration and theme for the artwork on our ARADA label. The white wines crafted under our ARADA label include a wine made with an aromatic Spanish white grape – Albariño; and a juicy white blend from the central coast – “Las Ramblas Blancas.”  Our white winemaking philosophy is to focus on aromatics, acidity and balance.  We employ winemaking techniques such as extended skin contact, native and selected yeast strains and fermentation in neutral French oak and stainless steel barrels to exemplify these qualities. Our ARADA reds feature Cabernet Sauvignons and a Cabernet Franc Blend - "Las Ramblas". Our red winemaking philosophy is built on expressive flavors and seamless structure.  We achieve this by working with the best vineyard sites on the central coast, picking at peak ripeness, hand sorting fruit in the vineyard and winery, barrel aging in French Oak and bottling unfiltered wines.
